Weekly Programs
Husaynia Islamic Society of Seattle offers a regular schedule of programs to serve the spiritual, educational, and social needs of our community. All are welcome to attend.
Majalis
Our regular Majalis (gathering/assembly) sessions are a cornerstone of community life at Husaynia. These gatherings include recitation of the Holy Quran, lectures on Islamic history and jurisprudence, and remembrance of Ahlul Bayt (the Prophet’s family). Majalis provide a space for spiritual reflection, communal mourning, and strengthening bonds of faith.

Special Events
Throughout the Islamic calendar, Husaynia marks key annual observances with special programming. These events bring the community together in worship, remembrance, and celebration.
Muharram & Ashura
The first month of the Islamic calendar holds deep significance for Shia Muslims. Husaynia holds nightly Majalis during the first ten days of Muharram, commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Husayn (AS) and his companions at Karbala. Programs include lectures, Noha (lamentations), Salam, and community dinners.
Ramadan Programs
During the holy month of Ramadan, Husaynia hosts Iftar (breaking of fast) gatherings, Taraweeh prayers, and special lectures. The community comes together nightly to share meals and deepen their spiritual practice.
Eid Celebrations
Husaynia celebrates Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, and Eid Milad un-Nabi (SAWAW) with community prayers, ceremonies, and festive dinners. Recent celebrations have been held at Northlake Lutheran Church in Kenmore, WA.
Arbaeen Commemoration
Forty days after Ashura, the community gathers for Arbaeen — one of the largest peaceful gatherings in the world. Local observances include Majlis, Salam, Noha, and a commemorative walk.
Fundraising Events
Special fundraising events support the Build Husaynia masjid construction project. These events bring the community together in support of our shared vision for a permanent home.
